Gun Violence Prevention Awareness Day Candlelight Vigil

Women For Progress  was honored to host, along with Moms Demand Action and the Brady Campaign, a candlelight vigil in honor of Gun Violence Prevention Awareness Day. The June 2nd event brought out more than 125 people, all there to support the victims of gun violence. Women For Progress’s Gun Violence Prevention Committee spearheaded Women For Progress’s role.

Moms Demand Action NJ Survivor Lead Charlene Horveter spoke to the crowd about the senseless murder of her beloved sister; there was not a dry eye in the house. Dwight Panozzo from Brady Campaign and Gays Against Guns spoke on the importance of activism in the name of fighting for sensible gun legislation and Freeholder Chairwoman Tracy Zur implored the crowd to continue the effort to affect change both locally and nationally. Live music, candlelight and a sea of orange tee shirts added to the ambiance of an incredible event, for an incredible cause. Senator Cory Booker sent a letter on his behalf to the event, as did Congressman Josh Gottheimer.
